Well, I think I'm officially done running. I started the "easy start" program from Runner's World...and didn't even make it past the first week without having full-blown tendonitis set in. It's all over my feet, and my calves. My ankles and calves have actually swelled up this time. I'm for sure this is actually tendonitis again; all I know is I can barely walk let alone run. :( My sprint tri the weekend of July 24th will be pretty funny. I'm just hoping I'll be able to finish it, even if I walk the entire last leg.
I'm hoping the weather will change quickly, and I can start blading again. Until then...I guess I'm stuck with biking. I am trying to focus on taking more spin classes, since they tend to kick my butt, and as long as I don't do any of the standing stuff, I can still use my lower-extremities after the class.

Hey there my biking daughter...join the crowd. I went in to the bike shop today and picked up a few things that making biking actually fun:
ReplyDeleteInsulated water bottle 24 oz...put an inch in the bottom and freeze it, then fill just before you bike. It stays cold for over an hour no problem.
Paded biking tights...yes...get them along with one of the biking shirts designed to wick sweat and breathe with pockets in the back and zipper down the front to open up when the heat builds.
Spare tube, tire changer tool, and CO2 cartridge with a large under seat carrier to store them...no worries about a flat.
Large pedals with serrated edges..foot won't slip and wide feet stay comfortably supported.
High pressure tires...100 pounds makes a difference.
A good headset with music to make you ride without noticing how far you went.
Wireless cat eye monitor...not expensive and data is interesting. I broke the speed limit twice on my last ride. Wonder if they ticket bikers?
They totally ticket around here. My goal is to get one, I want it framed next to my bobsled license in the game room.
